This is a hands-on planning job with real responsibility from day one. A growing primary-sector food manufacturer in Hamilton, New Zealand, ships most of its output to China and Southeast Asia and needs one person to own production planning and tie the plant to the sales team.
The deer velvet peak season runs until February/March, the job is full-time at 40 hours per week with extra hours during the peak, and the employer wants someone to begin as soon as possible. You will lead one direct report, so this is your first move into leadership with room to grow.

Key Responsibilities
- Build production schedules and manage them against capacity, cost and quality targets
- Forecast demand and deliver a longer-term operations outlook
- Drive SAP value by looking after master data, inventories and bills of materials, and coordinate packaging suppliers, dispatch and the broader supply chain
- Work alongside QA on traceability, MPI and export market requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Production planning experience in manufacturing
- Strong forecasting skills
- Hands-on ERP experience; SAP strongly preferred, training available
- Food or primary industry manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of QA
- Clear communicator who handles customer expectations with confidence
- Practical, resilient and flexible as deadlines shift
- Team leadership, health and safety experience or knowledge of exporting to Asia (desirable)
- Shortlisted candidates face reference checks and a Ministry of Justice criminal record check
