Automotive Mechanic / WoF Inspector

An expanding independent workshop in Auckland is recruiting experienced automotive mechanics. The jobs are permanent, full-time and run Monday to Saturday. If you know your way around a workshop and can work without being watched, read on. The business is an Immigration New Zealand accredited employer, approved to sponsor new staff on the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
Two positions are available, so pick the one that matches you. Position 1 requires current WoF Inspector authority; the person in it handles WoF inspections to NZTA requirements as well as day-to-day workshop work. Position 2 is a solid Automotive Mechanic job covering servicing, fault diagnosis, mechanical repairs and repairs after WoF checks.

Key Responsibilities
- Servicing, maintenance and tyre work (inspection, fitting, rotation)
- Fault diagnosis using diagnostic equipment and the full range of workshop tools
- Brake, steering and suspension repairs, plus wheel alignment checks
- Engine, cooling and electrical repairs alongside general mechanical work
- Pre-WoF inspections and the repairs that follow
- Accurate job cards and repair documentation
- Safe workshop practice and high-quality workmanship
- Professional communication with customers
- Position 1: WoF inspections carried out to NZTA requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Solid automotive mechanical experience, with the confidence to work independently
- Good fault-diagnosis and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, honest and professional
- Good eye for detail and workmanship
- Good communication skills
- A full NZ driver's licence, plus an NZ automotive qualification (preferred)
- Position 1: current WoF Inspector authority, required
