Here is a solid opportunity for an experienced Heavy Excavator Operator. A scrap recycling yard in Auckland, New Zealand, wants an operator who works safely and keeps output high.
The tools are clear, a 30-tonne tracked excavator with a shear, a grapple and a magnet. You will take scrap through every step, cutting heavy steel, sorting it, stockpiling it and loading export containers. The contract is permanent and full-time, with no less than 30 hours and up to 50 hours most weeks.

Key Responsibilities
- Run the shear on scrap cars, machinery and heavy structural steel
- Feed balers and shredders, sorting metals with the grapple
- Use the magnet to build ferrous piles and keep processing lanes clean
- Complete pre-start checks daily; manage hydraulic connections during tool changes
- Load out bulk export containers
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven time on 30-tonne-plus excavators
- Built up in a scrap metal yard, heavy demolition or quarry environment
- Hands-on, confident control of a hydraulic shear, grapple and magnet (essential)
- Valid NZ Class 1 licence with WTR endorsement (highly preferred)
- Strong spatial awareness with trucks, machinery and ground staff active nearby
- Ready to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
