Strong shift leaders with licence experience, take note. A licensed restaurant and café on the water near Nelson, New Zealand is recruiting a permanent Duty Manager to run service and keep the venue compliant whenever they are rostered on.
The dining room fits 200, the doors open daily, and summer is the busy stretch. The owners value great food and hospitality backed by systems that make good service repeatable, so your job is to keep those systems working: brief the team, coach them, check procedures are followed and close the shift properly with cash-up and handover. Count on 30 hours a week as a minimum, with weekends and public holidays part of the roster.
The employer is accredited and may be able to sponsor a work visa for the right person, but you need New Zealand work rights before you apply.

Key Responsibilities
- Run service on rostered shifts and hold the team to the venue standard
- Act as Duty Manager on licence under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, including host responsibility
- Deliver the pre-shift brief and coach the team during service
- Check systems, checklists and procedures are followed by all staff
- Complete cash-up, opening, closing and handovers without errors
- Manage guest feedback calmly and escalate major issues to the Restaurant Manager
- Keep the venue running safely and lawfully
Requirements & Eligibility
- Duty Manager Certificate (Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012) or the ability to obtain one promptly
- National Certificate in Food & Beverage Service (Level 3) or equivalent, or currently working towards it
- Previous supervisory or shift-leadership experience in hospitality
- Good working knowledge of wine, beverage and food service
- Confident reading rosters and following shift wage cost expectations
- Proficiency with IdealPOS, NowBookIt, Operandio, Slack, Loaded and similar venue systems, along with the right to work in New Zealand
