This is a straight public practice role. A Wollongong financial services business that handles accounting, tax, lending and financial advice needs an Accountant with around 2 to 3 years of Australian public practice experience.
Your desk will carry SME clients, companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals. An experienced Senior Accountant supports and reviews your work, and more responsibility and direct client work come your way over time. The team is collaborative, and the role comes with mentoring, CPA or CA development support and a defined route to Senior Accountant and Client Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Handle BAS and the broader accounting and tax load for SME clients
- Prepare individual returns and support year-end tax planning
- Liaise with clients and the ATO when required, and keep your own workflow on track for statutory deadlines
- Support the Senior Accountant with portfolio management on Xero and other cloud systems
Requirements & Eligibility
- Around 2 to 3 years of hands-on accounting in Australian public practice
- Has prepared financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Solid working knowledge of Australian tax rules and compliance, BAS preparation included
- Strong Xero skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication, with strong attention to detail
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or equivalent; CPA or CA studies, or plans to begin, highly regarded
