An established transport company in Hamilton, New Zealand, is hiring a Mechanic to work in its onsite workshop. This is a permanent, full-time position, and the brief is clear: keep a fleet of trucks, trailers and equipment safe, reliable and roadworthy.
You will service, maintain and fix the fleet, find out what is behind mechanical faults, inspect vehicles to plan upcoming maintenance and take on basic auto-electrical work and fault-finding. The team is hands-on and the standard is high, with safe work, quality results and an organised workshop expected.
The employer is an approved accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand (INZ) and can sponsor workers on the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).

Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair trucks, trailers and equipment as scheduled
- Diagnose mechanical faults and troubleshoot them through to a fix
- Carry out vehicle inspections and flag the maintenance required
- Perform basic auto-electrical work and fault-finding
- Work safely, deliver high-quality results and keep the workshop orderly
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified mechanic or relevant experience in mechanical work
- Heavy vehicle, truck or trailer experience is preferred
- Competence in basic automotive electrical work
- Strong work ethic
- Practical, hands-on attitude
- Able to work alone and in a team
- Committed to health and safety
- Able to clear a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
