Strong diesel mechanics are hard to find, and this road transport company in regional New South Wales is hiring one. It needs a Diesel Motor Mechanic for heavy commercial vehicles on a permanent, full-time basis. Your base is either Dubbo or a second workshop in the Riverina, where the roster rotates you to Dubbo.
The workshop brings real challenges: tracing complex faults, repairing and servicing prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment, and keeping everything within NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules so trucks spend less time off the road.
Subclass 482 visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates. The company gives preference to applicants already holding a valid visa in Australia, but that is not a requirement. You will need a licence and must pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test.

Key Responsibilities
- Handle preventive maintenance and logbook servicing on engines, transmissions and brakes according to OEM guidelines
- Track down electrical, mechanical and emission control faults with advanced diagnostic tools and fix them
- Rebuild major components
- Take on fabrication work as needed
- Keep NHVR compliance tight and maintain detailed audit records
- Stick to workshop safety rules and manage work orders through fleet management software
- Provide roadside assistance
- Train drivers on vehicle checks and defect reporting
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years as a heavy diesel mechanic, preferably in road transport
- Qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment experience: desirable
- Strong with diagnostic software
- Knowledge of petrol and diesel engines
- A current licence, and you must be able to pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
