Support Worker/Life Facilitator

Reliability is the first thing this role demands. A highly motivated tetraplegic client, backed by an established 24/7 team, needs a responsible and capable Life Facilitator who understands that good support is built on trust, consistency and accountability.
This is not just care work. You will help the client keep their independence, stay active and handle daily personal, professional and family commitments.
You must be able to prove your reliability, communicate confidently and work respectfully in a structured team. Following routines, using initiative and earning professional trust count as much as your practical support skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as an integral member of a coordinated 24/7 team, keeping the wider support team informed of anything important
- Support the client with personal care and daily living, keeping to established routines and schedules and giving practical help across daily activities
- Assist with the client's work and professional commitments and family-related activities
- Drive and accompany the client to activities and appointments, and assist during travel when required
- Provide companionship and positive social engagement
- Carry out individual care plans and agreed support procedures
- Hold professional boundaries and communicate with respect
- React appropriately as needs and circumstances change, using initiative to solve everyday situations
- Cover rostered day, afternoon, evening and overnight shifts plus sleepover duties as required
- Attend role-specific training
- Show dependable attendance and consistent support
- Help keep the environment safe, positive and respectful
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holding a valid driver's licence is essential
- NZQA Health and Wellbeing Level 3 at minimum, or willingness to study towards it
- Experience in disability support, healthcare, personal care or community support is preferred
- Proof of reliability and professional conduct, plus honesty and trustworthiness at work
- Communicates well, relates easily to people and has a positive, engaging personality
- Uses common sense and sound practical judgement, and keeps a level head when things change
- Owns their actions and is willing to get hands-on
- Works well in a 24/7 team and sticks to care plans, routines and instructions accurately
- Adapts easily when schedules and support needs change
- Can do day, afternoon, evening and overnight sleepover shifts
- Can do at least two weekend shifts each month
- Can work approximately 35 hours per week
- Can commit to approximately 2–4 rostered shifts per week
- Ready to train and build relevant support skills, and to respect the client's independence, privacy and priorities
