Underground hard rock engineers, here is a serious planning role. A large zinc-lead-silver mine in Queensland is hiring a permanent Mining Engineer to lead its medium-term planning.
The operation has a long life and a demanding sequence, with several working fronts where development, stoping, airflow, fill, services and infrastructure must line up. You will develop the plans and schedules, maintain them and keep raising their quality until production and development targets are delivered.
You decide the base that suits you, whether Brisbane, FIFO to the mine or living on site. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates, which makes this one worth a strong application from engineers abroad.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop mine plans and schedules that support production and development targets.
- Maintain those plans and schedules and improve them continuously.
- Translate Life-of-Mine and long-term planning strategy into practical medium-term mining sequences.
- Optimise the sequences for stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness.
- Produce medium-term sequences ready to be turned into short-term plans.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related subject.
- Demonstrated underground hard rock mining experience, preferably with exposure to mine planning, scheduling or technical services.
- Proven use of Deswik, Surpac or equivalent mine planning and design software for schedule analysis, stope sequencing and development planning.
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, production sequencing and development requirements, and the ability to integrate geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational constraints into practical mine plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess planning risks, identify constraints and develop practical solutions.
