You will work in a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality mental health services in inpatient and community settings, making a real difference to patients and their families. Stay safe: a genuine employer will never ask you to pay for a job offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and mental health assessments
- Draw up individual care plans, implement them and evaluate the results
- Deliver mental health nursing and clinical care of a high standard
- Administer medication and treatment strictly in line with clinical guidelines
- Step in with crisis intervention and therapeutic support when patients need it
- Record patient progress and keep clinical documentation accurate
- Ensure patient safety and full compliance with mental health legislation and clinical standards
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, medical officers and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Take part in case reviews as well as care and discharge planning
- Guide patients, families and carers through education and recovery planning
- Maintain professional standards, ethical practice and strict patient confidentiality, and keep care compassionate and person-centred
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement and keep learning through ongoing education and professional development
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, or eligibility to obtain registration
- Bachelor of Nursing, or an equivalent qualification that is recognised
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in mental health nursing or in clinical mental health practice
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment and of mental health care principles
- Sound understanding of the Australian mental health legislation and clinical practice standards that apply
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Commitment to delivering high-quality care centred on the patient
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing: highly regarded
- Willingness to relocate to Australia
