Disability Support Worker

Disability support experience? A young participant on the autism spectrum needs a steady, dependable support worker, and this verified role is about exactly that: helping them manage day-to-day living, express themselves and become more independent.

Trust and consistency come first. You would work one-on-one, using person-centred care in a safe setting where the participant can make progress, gain confidence and develop personally. Shifts are flexible, with daytime and after-school hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write up accurate shift notes, reports and any paperwork the role requires
  • Study the Behaviour Support Plans and care instructions so you understand them, then stick to them
  • Give dependable one-on-one help shaped around what the participant needs and the routines they follow
  • Grow the participant's independence with daily tasks and skill-building, and get them involved in meaningful activities that lift their confidence and engagement
  • Assist with communication difficulties as well as sensory or behavioural needs
  • When required, use positive support methods and suitable ways to redirect behaviour
  • Notice when behaviour changes and react calmly, patiently and professionally
  • Keep families, carers and the wider support network updated, and earn the participant's trust through a consistent, respectful relationship

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in disability support or a similar care setting, with a track record supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Background with participants who need communication support and behaviour management
  • Confident putting established support strategies and care plans to work, and able to work alone while adding value to a support team
  • Strong English skills and clear communication in professional settings
  • Dependable and committed to consistent participant support, with patience, understanding and compassion for disability care
  • Relevant qualifications or practical disability support experience preferred
  • Sponsorship opportunities for suitable verified applicants who have the required experience and skills
