Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld in line with the engineering requirements
  • Work from technical drawings, plans and fabrication specifications
  • Carry out MIG, TIG and Stick welding in various positions and applications
  • Measure, mark and cut materials accurately
  • Prepare and assemble materials with precision
  • Fit and align components before the final welding is done
  • Produce welds that are clean, consistent and structurally sound
  • Inspect finished work for accuracy, quality and compliance, and keep dimensions and tolerances accurate through the whole fabrication process
  • Find and sort out fabrication, fit-up or welding issues
  • Operate workshop machinery, tools and welding equipment safely
  • Handle assigned workshop tasks efficiently without needing direction
  • Work with other trades and workshop personnel on project requirements
  • Hold high standards of workmanship and productivity, follow workplace health, safety and quality procedures and keep the work area orderly and professional
  • Do overtime when required, including Saturdays

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Qualification in Welding, Boilermaking or Fabrication that is recognised
  • Demonstrated experience working as a First-Class Welder/Fabricator
  • Strong hands-on background in an engineering or heavy fabrication workshop
  • Hands-on experience using MIG, TIG and Stick welding
  • Confidence welding in multiple positions
  • Proven ability to read and make sense of engineering drawings
  • Strong fabrication, fitting and assembly ability
  • Accurate work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to precision and quality
  • Good communication skills and teamwork
  • Reliable attendance, a strong professional work ethic, and the willingness and ability to work regular overtime
  • Commitment to Australian workplace health and safety standards
  • Evidence of relevant qualifications and employment experience that you can provide; sponsorship may be available to suitably qualified and experienced candidates satisfying the applicable visa and sponsorship requirements
