Warehouse Manager

This is a senior leadership position, not a stock-checking job. An established distribution operation in Auckland, New Zealand wants a Warehouse Manager who can show proven leadership, real operational knowledge and a record of reliable warehouse performance.

You will be trusted to lead people, sharpen systems, keep the site compliant, manage logistics partners and keep the entire warehouse running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the warehouse day to day and answer for its efficiency, planning labour and resources around orders, shipments and priorities
  • Build a strong crew: recruit, onboard, train, motivate and monitor supervisors and staff
  • Keep inventory correct and coordinate scheduled stocktakes
  • Watch DIFOT, KPIs, productivity and service levels closely
  • Rework layouts to get more storage capacity and better space utilisation
  • Handle import container devanning and receiving, dealing with Customs, freight companies, shipping providers and logistics partners
  • Carry out MPI Facility Operator or Accredited Person duties where required
  • Keep digital workflows correct in the WMS and integrated IT platforms, working hand in hand with Sales, Finance, IT and other functions
  • Manage external suppliers and service providers
  • Lead Health & Safety and push a strong safety culture
  • Find inefficiencies and fix them, keep facilities, equipment and resources properly maintained, and build a culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability and continuous improvement

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment, immigration and sponsorship requirements
  • You will need to produce genuine evidence of qualifications, experience and professional history for verification
  • A proven record as a Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager or senior warehouse professional, having led warehouse teams and operational staff
  • Deep knowledge of inventory control, stock accuracy and warehouse planning, plus experience of international freight, imports and container handling
  • Understanding of MPI processes and New Zealand compliance requirements is advantageous
  • Firm knowledge of workplace Health & Safety, backed by practical commitment
  • Excellent communicator and people manager who makes decisions confidently and solves problems
  • Stays accurate and detail-focused under pressure while juggling competing priorities in a busy distribution environment
  • Good IT skills, with WMS or integrated warehouse systems experience in paperless or technology-enabled sites
  • Commercial grasp of productivity, resource allocation and operational costs
  • Reliable, punctual, professional and committed to high standards
