Wait Staff & Bartender

Three experienced Bartenders are needed for the opening team of a new gastropub in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty. The business wants proven practical skills and a strong focus on customers.

You should be able to show real bar experience, understand beverage service and contribute with confidence in a fast-moving hospitality environment. Your experience, practical knowledge and ability to deliver consistent service will be key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow responsible alcohol service procedures and comply with relevant New Zealand regulations
  • Prepare and present a variety of drinks with and without alcohol, including cocktails made to venue recipes and standards
  • Serve beer, wine and spirits with the right product knowledge
  • Deliver professional, welcoming customer service
  • Speak to customers with confidence and meet their service needs
  • Handle transactions accurately using POS systems
  • Check beverage supplies and keep stock levels organised
  • Help with ordering, inventory control and stock rotation
  • Carry out opening and closing duties as required, keeping the bar and service areas very clean
  • Assist in handling cash and wrapping up end-of-shift tasks
  • Cooperate effectively with colleagues in busy periods

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Applicants must satisfy the applicable New Zealand immigration requirements; sponsorship is available for eligible overseas applicants, subject to job check approval and immigration requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of professional bartending experience that is relevant to the role
  • Demonstrated hands-on cocktail preparation and beverage service
  • Practical knowledge of spirits, wine and beer
  • Where required, can back up relevant work history with evidence
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, reliable and professional, and confident working in a busy hospitality environment
  • Available for evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • If you are already in New Zealand, a Job Change or Variation of Conditions may be considered where applicable
  • Where an English test is required, applicants must meet current Immigration New Zealand requirements or an accepted exemption
