Truck Mechanic

Heavy Vehicle Mechanics wanted at the Port of Brisbane. A well-established Australian heavy vehicle business is building its Queensland team and wants mechanics who can prove genuine workshop experience, practical diagnostic skills and reliable results.

Work covers diagnostics, servicing, repairs, rebuilds and breakdown assistance. Successful candidates get ongoing manufacturer-focused training, modern workshop facilities and room to progress their technical careers.

Your trade experience and qualifications will need to be backed by documents. Keep everything genuine, and do not pay anyone who claims they can get you this job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend breakdowns at customer or offsite locations as required and take part in the workshop on-call roster
  • Diagnose faults in heavy commercial vehicles and related systems
  • Handle routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Complete repairs, component replacements and rebuilds to manufacturer specifications
  • Test and inspect vehicles after repair work, identifying and resolving any mechanical issues efficiently
  • Keep job cards and workshop records accurate
  • Hold high standards of safety, workmanship and technical accuracy
  • Cooperate with other technicians and workshop staff
  • Support the practical training and development of apprentices
  • Communicate with customers professionally about completed work

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Sponsorship available for eligible overseas candidates
  • Recognised Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or relevant mechanical qualification, with supporting documentation for your qualifications and employment history
  • Proven practical heavy vehicle repair and maintenance experience that you can demonstrate and verify
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in mechanical work
  • Good knowledge of workshop safety and quality procedures
  • Reliable, team-focused, and professional in communication and customer service
  • Current car licence
  • HR licence is desirable, and a Forklift licence is also desirable
  • Kenworth or DAF experience is desirable
  • Experienced overseas heavy vehicle mechanics are encouraged to apply
  • Interstate heavy vehicle mechanics are welcome too
  • Second to fourth year mechanic apprentices may also be considered
  • Willing to undertake ongoing technical and manufacturer training
