Key Responsibilities
- Engineer role: support engineering work on HV and MV electrical infrastructure
- Engineer role: deal with switchboards, switchgear, substations and transportable electrical systems
- Engineer role: play a part in power distribution projects as well as protection and control projects
- Engineer role: review drawings, specifications and technical documentation, making sure relevant Australian Standards and project requirements are applied
- Engineer role: give technical support to manufacturing and production staff
- Engineer role: work through technical issues together with testing and commissioning personnel, and collaborate with project managers, engineers, production and quality teams
- Engineer role: investigate technical problems, develop workable solutions and assist with engineering solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects
- Engineer role: drive engineering improvements and project optimisation so that complex electrical infrastructure projects are delivered successfully
- Electrician role: run pre-delivery and pre-installation tests on LV, MV and HV switchboards
- Electrician role: confirm that switchboards and transportable switchrooms meet electrical and mechanical compliance
- Electrician role: carry out insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, phase rotation and earth continuity testing
- Electrician role: test control circuits and operational functions, verify protection relays and associated systems, and resolve wiring, electrical and functional faults
- Electrician role: build and modify switchboards, MCCs and control panels working from electrical schematics, single line diagrams and wiring drawings
- Electrician role: complete Factory Acceptance Testing, record results and prepare commissioning documentation in line with Australian Standards and project specifications
- Electrician role: assist with site installation and commissioning, including shutdown and after-hours projects where required
- Electrician role: mentor apprentices and junior electrical staff on technical matters
Requirements & Eligibility
- For the HV/MV Electrical Engineer position: Australian registration as an Electrical Engineer
- At least 2 years of relevant industry experience
- Work history on HV and/or MV electrical systems
- Exposure to switchboards, switchgear, substations, protection and control or power distribution
- You can interpret electrical drawings and engineering specifications
- Sound technical analysis and problem-solving skills
- Grasp of the applicable Australian Standards
- Effective collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams, plus strong written and verbal communication
- Able to operate across engineering, manufacturing, testing and project environments
- Subclass 482 visa holders are welcome to apply; 482 visa sponsorship is available for the successful Electrical Engineer
- For the Switchboard Electrician position: current Queensland Electrical Work Licence as an Electrical Mechanic or Electrical Fitter
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Electrical Fitting
- A minimum of 3 years working in industrial switchboard manufacturing, testing or commissioning
- Solid practical background with LV switchboards and MCCs
- Electrical testing, commissioning and fault-finding experience
- MV/HV equipment knowledge or experience will be highly regarded
- Industrial control systems experience is advantageous
- Confidence interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
- Familiarity with AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000 and other relevant Australian Standards
- CPR/LVR certification that is current
- Serious about electrical safety and quality
- Comfortable in both workshop and site environments, and willing to travel occasionally for commissioning and project needs
