Role: full-time Sous Chef. Employer: a well-established hospitality venue in New South Wales. Service: daytime café dining, plus occasional functions and events.

You will work hand in hand with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality café and event food. The job demands strong standards in food quality, kitchen efficiency and food safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Follow HACCP principles and food safety procedures at all times
  • Comply with workplace health and safety requirements
  • Help the Head Chef plan menus
  • Help the Head Chef develop new menu items
  • Prepare high-quality meals according to recipes
  • Present every dish to the venue's presentation standards
  • Back up the café side of the business and function catering
  • Change dishes to suit dietary requirements and customer preferences
  • Track stock levels and support inventory management
  • Reduce food waste with effective kitchen practices
  • Uphold high standards of food quality, hygiene and cleanliness
  • Cooperate with kitchen and front-of-house teams
  • Keep kitchen operations efficient during busy service
  • Make sure food preparation and presentation stay consistent
  • Help maintain a positive, professional team environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 1.5 years' experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
  • Qualification: Diploma of Hospitality or higher
  • Prior experience working under a Head Chef's supervision
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP procedures
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene
  • Menu planning and food preparation experience
  • Works efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Can maintain high standards of food quality and consistency
  • Willing to work weekends and additional hours in peak periods
