Straight to the point: an established infrastructure construction company needs a Site Engineer with real experience for its structural concrete and civil infrastructure projects in the ACT. Claims are not enough; you will need to show genuine time on site.
The job means owning engineering and quality matters until each project is complete. You will sit with project management and site delivery teams and handle quality assurance, technical coordination, construction planning, paperwork and daily progress.
There is exposure to major infrastructure works and room to grow toward senior site and project engineering duties. Engineers from Nigeria and elsewhere should read every requirement carefully before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Help keep the site compliant on safety and environmental requirements
- Lead engineering on civil infrastructure and structural concrete works, keeping crews, supervisors and project managers aligned on site engineering needs
- Run the QA procedures and ITP requirements, including quality records, witness and hold points and inspection requests
- Produce and maintain handover documentation, lot records and conformance records
- Find, record and help close out non-conformances
- Check specifications, drawings, structural details and project requirements
- Issue RFIs and follow technical queries through with contractors, consultants and clients
- Back formwork, reinforcement and concrete activities with engineering input, and confirm reinforcement is installed to the approved specifications and drawings
- Help with setout and checking of construction works
- Track progress against the program, raise any delay risks early and organise consumables, plant and materials for upcoming activities
- Attend progress reviews, coordination meetings and site inspections
- Advise construction teams and site supervision on technical matters, and keep project, quality and engineering records accurate
- Cooperate with subcontractors, head contractors and stakeholders
- Help the team meet delivery, program and quality targets and keep improving construction and engineering processes
Requirements & Eligibility
- White Card and a current driver's licence
- Minimum 2 years of Australian Site Engineer experience, earned on civil infrastructure or structural concrete projects
- Tertiary qualification: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a Structural Engineering-related discipline
- Shows practical understanding of how construction engineering and site delivery work
- Knows inspections, ITPs, QA systems and construction documentation well, and has managed RFIs, technical queries and non-conformance processes
- Reads and interprets technical specifications and structural drawings
- Strong communicator in writing and speech, with good organisation and documentation habits
- Can obtain the ACT site inductions and project access clearances required
- Works effectively on live construction sites
- Professional and dependable in carrying project responsibilities
- Strong at teamwork and at communicating with stakeholders
- Willing to keep learning and developing professionally
- Highly regarded: bridge construction experience, and experience on dams, spillways or water infrastructure
- Highly regarded: Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor experience, and experience with reinforcement scheduling, procurement, fixing supervision and quality control
