Sheetmetal Tradesperson/CNC Operator

Precision sheet metal work, verified skills and a structured production floor: that is what this Auckland, New Zealand role is about. An established manufacturer is hiring CNC Operators, and experienced sheet metal tradespeople are also a good fit.

The employer wants people who understand precision manufacturing, take responsibility for their own output and hit production and quality expectations consistently. Staff get to use modern equipment, and experienced team members are encouraged to suggest ways to make processes safer, more efficient and more effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work towards daily targets as part of the production team, keeping your area clean, tidy and organised
  • Set up equipment for scheduled jobs and run CNC punch, laser, tube laser and press brake machinery
  • Interpret technical drawings and production specifications
  • Measure and check components during every stage of production, keeping quality accurate and consistent
  • Pick up production issues and resolve them where appropriate
  • Observe safe operating procedures and workplace requirements
  • Bring practical trade knowledge to improving manufacturing outcomes and back continuous improvement across production processes
  • Propose safer, faster and more effective methods for getting tasks done

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Must meet the relevant New Zealand visa requirements if you are applying for sponsorship
  • At least 2 years of practical CNC operating experience (2+ years of relevant sheet metal trades experience may also be considered)
  • Background running punch, laser, tube laser or press brake machinery, with Trumpf experience highly desirable
  • Technical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing that can be clearly shown
  • Sharp attention to precision and first-time-right workmanship
  • Can follow technical instructions and production specifications
  • Serious about safety and quality standards in the workplace
  • Works well in a production team and is willing to offer practical ideas for improving processes
  • Available for fixed day, night or graveyard shifts
  • Able to commit to at least 40 hours per week
