Service Technician

Your value as an electrician is shown by what you can actually diagnose, repair and deliver on real industrial sites. That is the standard for this Service Technician position in Adelaide.

It is aimed at industrial electricians with proven hands-on ability who want to move into specialised field service on overhead cranes, hoists, gantries and industrial lifting systems. Training specific to the industry is provided, and you will apply your existing electrical knowledge to fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, commissioning and breakdown response.

The job comes with strong earning potential, guaranteed overtime and independence across different sites. Note: a genuine employer will never ask you to pay for a job offer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate service reports and maintenance paperwork after each job
  • Find and fix electrical faults on overhead cranes, hoists and industrial lifting equipment, including complex ones
  • Handle breakdown repairs and respond to emergency faults
  • Test, commission and fault-find crane control systems
  • Work on PLCs, motors, contactors, VSDs, limit switches and associated controls
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and electrical inspections
  • Service and maintain equipment to the required standards
  • Travel to customer sites in metropolitan and regional areas, and interstate occasionally when required
  • Be part of a rotating on-call roster and work additional hours and guaranteed overtime as required

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Current Electrical Licence or Provisional Electrical Licence
  • Cert III in Electrotechnology or an equivalent qualification
  • Proven background in industrial electrical work
  • Hands-on PLC fault-finding experience and a demonstrated ability to diagnose electrical problems independently
  • Practical experience with control systems and industrial motors, backed by strong troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Can work independently while maintaining professional relationships with customers
  • Willing to learn overhead crane and lifting equipment technology
  • Willing to travel approximately 10–30% outside metropolitan areas
  • Suitable candidates with verified qualifications and relevant experience may be considered for sponsorship
