Rope Access Technician

Rope Access Technicians are needed in North Shore City, Auckland, with a specialist technical services employer. You should have a strong track record of working safely and effectively in challenging environments.
Your skills need to be backed by recognised qualifications and verifiable industry experience. The work covers a changing range of projects on buildings, industrial sites and major infrastructure, from inspecting structures at height to maintenance, remedial and safety-system projects, alongside a capable professional team.

Key Responsibilities
- Follow relevant rope access standards and workplace safety requirements and deliver high-quality workmanship on all assigned projects
- Set up and check rope access equipment and work-at-height systems, and install, inspect and maintain height-safety systems
- Do industrial rope access work at many different sites
- Carry out structural, building, façade, bridge and infrastructure inspections
- Handle industrial maintenance, inspection and repair work, plus waterproofing and remedial projects
- Get safely into high, restricted and hard-to-reach spots
- Size up each site and solve access and work challenges in practical ways
- Record every job properly with notes, photographs and site paperwork
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, colleagues and clients, and work independently without dropping safety or quality standards
- Travel to project sites across New Zealand when required
- Take occasional overnight trips; accommodation and applicable allowances are provided
Requirements & Eligibility
- Where sponsorship is required, you need to be able to meet the relevant New Zealand immigration requirements
- A current and valid IRATA Rope Access qualification; the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4) is also considered
- Minimum 2 years of practical rope access experience, and it must be verifiable
- Demonstrable rope access-based work in professional environments, with evidence to back up your qualifications and relevant employment history
- Strong understanding of safe practices at height and a strong sense of responsibility for safety and quality
- A practical problem-solver who works confidently in challenging and changing site conditions
- Can work alone or in a technical team and communicates professionally
- Current driver's licence: advantageous but not essential
- Professional-level English: advantageous but not essential
- Relevant trade qualifications or trade experience: advantageous
- Additional training in construction, inspection, industrial work or height safety: advantageous
- Willingness to travel within New Zealand as projects dictate
