Registered Teacher

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate learning stories, assessments, records and documentation
  • Observe children's interests, behaviours and developmental progress
  • Use those observations to shape planning and intentional teaching
  • Provide responsive, respectful care matched to each infant's individual needs
  • Support each infant's routines, including care, comfort, sleep and wellbeing
  • Create a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment
  • Design learning experiences that encourage exploration and development
  • Form secure, meaningful relationships with tamariki and whanau, communicating with whanau professionally and consistently
  • Recognise and affirm the identity, language, culture and background of all tamariki
  • Embed culturally responsive approaches and strengthen bicultural practice in accordance with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Work effectively with colleagues to keep education and care standards high
  • Contribute to meetings, team discussions, centre activities and day-to-day operations
  • Reflect regularly on your practice, find areas to improve and engage in professional learning that builds a culture of continuous development
  • Help keep the team environment positive, respectful and collaborative

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You must hold a full and current New Zealand Teacher Practising Certificate
  • A recognised Early Childhood Education qualification
  • Applicants must satisfy relevant New Zealand employment, registration and immigration requirements
  • Candidates who require accredited employment and visa sponsorship may be considered
  • Relevant work in early childhood education, particularly with infants
  • Solid grasp of infant learning, development and responsive caregiving
  • Real passion for supporting babies and young children
  • Track record of building positive relationships with tamariki and whanau
  • Strong verbal and written communication, plus confidence with planning, assessment, observation and documentation
  • Proof that you can deliver culturally responsive teaching
  • Commitment to bicultural practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • A professional, organised, calm, adaptable and reflective manner, and the ability to work well in an education team
  • Willingness to take part in ongoing professional development
