Project Manager

Construction · Auckland CBD, Auckland, New Zealand · Full-Time · $25/hr

An Auckland employer needs a Senior Project Manager. The job: take charge of technically demanding building projects spread over a varied set of high-profile facilities.

To be considered, show a solid history of delivering construction, renewal, refurbishment or building-services work, and explain how you kept technical needs in balance with commercial and operational demands.

Selection rests on real, checked experience and ability. A matching job title on its own will not get you through. Make sure every claim in your application can be backed up, and engage only with employers and recruiters you have confirmed are real.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep all works in line with building rules and regulatory obligations
  • Act as the client-side owner of major physical works, setting out the scope, resourcing, budget, programme and delivery plan for each
  • Head up project teams, bring contractors, consultants and stakeholders together, and keep everyone informed with clear expectations
  • Track spending, timelines, risk, quality and results
  • Supervise building and renewal jobs inside facilities that remain open, without disrupting the live environment
  • Assess technical needs and building-services factors, coordinating electrical, mechanical, structural, fire and water-related works
  • Write accurate progress and financial reports; keep paperwork and contract obligations under control
  • Check how contractors and consultants are performing
  • Fix technical and delivery problems across several projects running side by side
  • Pass on knowledge and help build the team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • At senior level, project management experience in construction or building environments, backed by proven delivery of complex projects from the planning stage to completion
  • Solid grasp of how building construction and renewal works are carried out
  • Technical know-how covering building services and critical systems
  • Preferred: a background running projects inside complex or publicly accessible facilities
  • You know New Zealand building regulations, the compliance requirements that come with them and NZS 3910 contracts
  • Sharp commercial and financial awareness
  • Excellent at communication and handling stakeholders, and strong at solving problems and making decisions
  • Can juggle competing priorities and deadlines
  • Preferred: a relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • A verifiable professional history; overseas applicants may be considered, with sponsorship available for suitable candidates
