Production Team Member/Supervisor

A growing food manufacturer in New Zealand is hiring a Food Production Supervisor / Operator to take ownership of its production floor.

Here is what the job involves: keeping manufacturing running smoothly, making sure every batch meets the required standards, and working alongside a small team on ingredient preparation, batching, machinery operation, quality checks, cleaning and production coordination. You will carry responsibility for production targets, food safety, quality and team support, and move between supervisory and hands-on work as needed. Previous food manufacturing experience is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow every Health & Safety procedure and report hazards or issues
  • Ensure food safety and Good Manufacturing Practice rules are followed
  • Carry out daily equipment washdowns, cleaning and sanitation
  • Keep production areas organised, clean and compliant with workplace standards
  • Set the daily production schedule and assign tasks across the team
  • Get manufacturing done safely, efficiently and on schedule
  • Check, measure and weigh ingredients accurately before production starts
  • Make batches and products according to approved recipes, keeping production processes and recipe controls accurate
  • Run mixers, fillers and other food manufacturing machines
  • Monitor processes and machinery for smooth operation
  • Hold product quality consistent and complete quality checks, flagging production issues promptly
  • Track daily production targets and help lift operational efficiency
  • Train and support production team members, and work with the Production Manager to resolve operational issues
  • Complete orders and production requirements accurately and on time
  • Step in with hands-on support across production activities when required

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven food manufacturing or commercial food production experience, including previous work as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Production Operator or similar
  • Experience in an approved food control plan environment
  • Strong knowledge of quality, hygiene and food safety requirements
  • Practical experience operating food manufacturing machinery, including mixers, fillers or similar production equipment
  • Can follow recipes, measurements and manufacturing procedures accurately, with strong attention to detail and commitment to product consistency
  • Able to lead and support a small production team
  • Comfortable doing hands-on production work and meeting daily production targets efficiently
  • Reliable, hardworking and physically capable of production and cleaning duties, including repetitive tasks and washdown responsibilities
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, and quick to learn new production systems and machinery
  • Committed to a safe, clean working environment
  • Current forklift licence is advantageous
  • Sponsorship is available for a suitably qualified overseas candidate
