Production Manager

Position: Production Manager for a specialist solar salt operation in Queensland, Australia. The business is growing and needs a capable, commercially minded leader to run production and support its next phase.
What to expect: annual output above 200,000 tonnes, a team of 10+ employees, and full responsibility for the process from seawater intake to final stockpile. You will answer for production efficiency, product quality, inventory and operating costs. Seasons and weather drive the work, so strong technical understanding, practical leadership and sound judgement matter.

Key Responsibilities
- Track production volumes, inventory and cost-per-tonne results, keeping commercial accountability for efficiency and operating costs
- Manage the full solar salt production operation from seawater intake to finished product
- Supervise pumping, evaporation, crystallisation, harvesting, washing and stockpile work
- Build production plans around seasonal conditions and weather forecasts, and control weather-related operational risks
- Lead a team of 10+ employees across production and mobile plant, developing their capability through cross-training and multi-skilling
- Confirm that finished product meets established quality specifications
- Identify production constraints, apply practical solutions and serve as the main escalation point for technical and process issues
- Support capital projects and plant and field infrastructure improvements, and look for opportunities to raise efficiency, reliability and resilience
- Work with technical consultants and internal specialists to improve operating performance
- Keep accurate production and stockpile records and contribute to the site's long-term expansion and improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Strong skills in leadership, communication and managing people
- Demonstrated experience in solar salt production is highly desirable
- Applicants with solar salt production experience gained internationally are encouraged to apply
- Strong technical grasp of evaporation and crystallisation processes
- Chemical engineering, chemistry or a similar technical qualification may be considered where relevant production experience is demonstrated
- A proven track record running production, processing or industrial operations
- Hands-on experience managing and developing multi-skilled frontline teams
- Strong understanding of production costs, inventory control and operational KPIs, with demonstrated commercial awareness and operational accountability
- Ability to make effective decisions in changing, weather-dependent conditions, supported by strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Can work independently and also collaborate with technical support teams
- Prepared to relocate to regional Queensland and live on-site
- Ready to commit to a long-term role in a growing Australian operation
