Straight to the point: a commercial broiler operation in New South Wales needs an experienced Poultry Farm Manager. This is a genuine Australian farming role for people whose practical skills, leadership and poultry industry background fit what the farm needs.

The job covers the full production cycle. You head a farm team and work with seasoned operational and technical staff. Current poultry site managers and accomplished 2ICs ready to move up are both suitable, and structure and support are in place to help build a career in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Enforce effective biosecurity procedures across the whole farm
Make sure animal welfare and workplace health and safety standards are followed every time
Take charge of the complete broiler production cycle, placement to collection
Lead the farm team, prepare rosters and allocate duties so daily production requirements are met
Track bird health, welfare and growth as well as overall flock performance
Control feeding, watering, ventilation and environmental conditions
Watch production results closely and act to correct problems where required
Use farm management systems and production data to measure performance
Coordinate shed preparation, cleaning and turnaround work
Oversee maintenance of feeding, drinking, ventilation and generator systems
Identify equipment and operational faults and organise suitable maintenance
Keep farm, production and compliance records accurate and report clearly to senior management on updates and performance
Liaise with veterinarians, technical specialists and processor representatives
Be part of after-hours and on-call cover, and back continuous improvement across farm operations

Requirements & Eligibility

A current driver's licence and willingness to live on site
Commercial broiler poultry experience
Prior experience as a Poultry Farm Manager or as an experienced 2IC
Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a farm team
Strong, hands-on understanding of poultry production and flock management
Knowledge of ventilation and climate-control systems, and understanding of poultry biosecurity and welfare requirements
Ability to read production data and use it to make practical operational decisions
Good communication, organisation and record-keeping skills; able to use computers and relevant farm management systems
A reliable, calm approach to operational challenges, and availability to join an after-hours and on-call roster
Genuine commitment to animal welfare, workplace safety and production standards
