In panel beating, your record is proven by the quality of your work, not by claims on paper. A well-established automotive repair operation in Otago, New Zealand needs an experienced Panel Beater / Repair Technician who brings reliable technical skills, attention to detail and professionalism.
Expect a wide range of repairs, including structural and prestige work, with possible exposure to brands such as Tesla and Jaguar Land Rover. The workshop is modern, uses current repair equipment and offers ongoing I-CAR certification training and structured development.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect completed repairs for quality and safety, and sign off only after the required quality checks are done
- Assess what each repair requires before work begins
- Read job sheets to understand the required repair process, then follow approved procedures and workplace instructions
- Go to management with questions whenever further repair guidance is needed
- Complete collision and panel repairs to an accurate, professional standard
- Trial-fit replacement parts, confirm the fitment, and identify and report missing, incorrect or additional parts
- Make sure all assigned repairs are finished before the vehicle goes to painting
- Identify removed parts accurately, store them in an organised way and label vehicle components with the relevant job number
- Prepare repaired components and parts for the Paint Department
- Carry out final reassembly checks, including verifying headlight positioning and other required adjustments
- Maintain an efficient workflow that still meets expected repair standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current New Zealand residency, or a valid applicable work visa
- Trade Certificate at an equivalent Level 3 or Level 4 standard, or at least 3 years' relevant technician experience
- Demonstrated hands-on panel beating or vehicle repair experience
- Can interpret job sheets, follow repair procedures and complete technical work without constant supervision
- Focused on repair quality, safety and accuracy
- Able to collaborate within a workshop team
- Holds a full clean driving licence
- Good communication, organisational skills and high attention to detail
- Ready to commit to ongoing technical training and professional development
