Key Responsibilities

  • Follow every workplace health and safety procedure, including PPE requirements
  • Inspect damaged vehicles and check job sheets before repairs start
  • Confirm that parts received are correct, suitable and defect-free
  • Strip vehicles down in line with repair instructions and job requirements
  • Remove damaged panels, frames and other components
  • Fix or replace vehicle panels and structural components, then refit them
  • Carry out metal shaping, cutting, straightening and welding
  • Do fabrication and repair work with the correct workshop tools and techniques
  • Assist with rust treatment, frame alignment and structural repairs as required
  • Apply body filler and complete sanding and surface preparation
  • Reassemble vehicles carefully after repairs are complete
  • Check that finished work meets required quality and industry standards, and treat every customer and company vehicle with care
  • Use tools and equipment correctly, keep them safe, clean and operational, and keep the work area clean, organised and safe
  • Work with the team for efficient workshop operations and keep building knowledge of current repair methods and industry practices

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Willing to take part in the employer’s candidate verification and assessment process
  • Able to demonstrate and verify relevant work experience and professional identity
  • Recognised Panel Beater trade qualification, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven automotive panel beating and smash repair experience
  • Strong knowledge of panel replacement and vehicle body repair techniques
  • Hands-on experience with metal shaping, cutting, welding and fabrication
  • Understanding of rust treatment, frame alignment and structural repair
  • Experience with body filler application, sanding and surface preparation, and with accurate disassembly and reassembly of vehicle components
  • Close attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Uses tools and workshop equipment safely and responsibly, and is committed to workplace safety and OH&S requirements
  • Good teamwork and communication skills, and a reliable, motivated, professional work approach
