Key Responsibilities
- Use computerised diagnostic equipment to track down mechanical and system faults
- Diagnose problems in engines, transmissions, steering and the wider mechanical systems
- Examine mechanical components for faults, damage and signs of deterioration
- Remove and strip engines, transmissions and other vehicle assemblies where needed, then repair, replace or rebuild any worn or defective parts
- Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Do oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups and all scheduled maintenance procedures
- Read and apply technical information and the manufacturer's service specifications
- Make sure mechanical repairs meet the required technical standards
- Test repaired components, adjust them and confirm the vehicle performs correctly after servicing or repair
- Inspect vehicles and identify the work needed to keep them roadworthy
- Keep the workshop safe, clean and organised to a high standard, and work efficiently with the rest of the team on assigned jobs
- Deliver dependable workmanship with vehicle safety and customer satisfaction as the priority
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Motor Mechanics, Automotive Technology or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional automotive work that is relevant to this role
- Proven hands-on servicing and repair experience, including on computerised automotive diagnostic systems
- Strong at diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicle faults
- Solid understanding of how engines, transmissions, steering and other mechanical systems work
- Can follow manufacturer specifications and technical manuals
- Strong practical problem-solver with high attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Works independently and in a professional workshop team, with good communication and workplace skills
- Can provide evidence supporting your relevant qualifications and employment history
