Motor Mechanic needed in Wallan, Victoria. An established automotive workshop is hiring a light vehicle mechanic who can diagnose, service and repair modern vehicles with confidence.
The employer is focused on trade skills that can be verified and real-world workshop experience. You must be able to show practical understanding of vehicle systems, diagnose faults accurately and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults with modern diagnostic equipment
- Inspect vehicle systems to find out what is causing a fault
- Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, engine oil and filter changes and general service procedures
- Service and repair petrol engines and related parts
- Inspect transmissions and carry out repairs on them
- Repair and maintain braking, suspension and steering systems
- Replace any defective, worn or damaged mechanical component
- Dismantle engines, transmissions and other assemblies for inspection
- Complete repairs according to technical procedures, referring to manufacturer specifications and service information
- Inspect vehicles before and after repairs
- Road test vehicles to confirm repairs have been done properly
- Record job details and parts used accurately
- Follow workshop safety and quality procedures, and keep tools, equipment and work areas clean and organised
- Communicate with colleagues in the workshop about repairs and vehicle requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 12 months of relevant automotive workshop experience
- Recognised Motor Mechanic – Light Vehicle trade qualification or an equivalent
- Current driver's licence
- Demonstrated practical experience in servicing and repairing light vehicles
- Working knowledge of modern vehicle systems, both mechanical and electrical
- Strong fault diagnosis skills and the ability to identify suitable repairs
- Experience on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and steering
- Ability to understand manufacturer specifications and technical repair information
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to dependable workmanship
- Ability to complete work on your own as well as in a team environment
- Professional communication, a positive workplace attitude and the ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop
- European vehicle experience will be highly regarded
- Experience with Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, BMW or Mercedes-Benz will be advantageous
- Willingness and ability to provide evidence of qualifications and employment experience, and to satisfy the requirements for available sponsorship
