A growing automotive operation needs a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic. You must be able to demonstrate genuine trade skills, practical experience and a professional approach to vehicle maintenance and repair.
The mechanic who gets this role will own vehicle servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs, and keep safety and workmanship standards high.
Know the terms before you apply: the position starts with a 6-month contract, both full-time and part-time arrangements are available, and strong performers may have the opportunity to move into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the workshop clean, safe and organised according to WorkSafe requirements
- Diagnose faults and confirm them through testing and inspection
- Carry out mechanical repairs on engines, transmissions, steering and braking systems, plus wheel alignment and air-conditioning repairs and servicing
- Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance to service specifications
- Inspect, diagnose and repair accident-damaged vehicles or those needing restoration, and check vehicles for roadworthiness, safety and compliance with applicable state regulations
- Inspect mechanical and electronic components to pick out defective or worn parts
- Keep detailed records of the inspections, servicing, repairs and maintenance done on each vehicle
- Coordinate with the vehicle operations team so vehicles are ready for customer bookings
- Identify spare parts needed, help maintain workshop inventory, and report technical findings, repair requirements and estimated costs to management
- Deliver consistent quality, reliability and attention to detail in every job
- Work efficiently, both independently and with the wider team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant professional experience working as a Motor Mechanic
- Recognised trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent
- Demonstrated practical experience in vehicle diagnosis, servicing and repairs, with the ability to inspect and diagnose mechanical and electronic systems
- Current driver's licence
- Strong written and spoken English communication
- IELTS Band 6 or above preferred
- Can clearly explain technical problems, repair options and estimated costs
- Strong diagnostic and analytical capability plus excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Good time-management and organisation, with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Able to work effectively independently and in a team
- Committed to workplace safety and maintaining vehicle roadworthiness
