A motel in San Remo, Victoria needs a hospitality professional who can take full ownership of how the business performs each day.

Be clear about what is expected. This is not a box-ticking hire. The employer wants a manager whose experience, employment history and professional abilities can be demonstrated and verified. If your background cannot be checked, this role is not the right fit.

The person chosen will combine practical hospitality knowledge, team leadership and commercial awareness to run the property efficiently and give guests a consistently positive experience. You will answer for staff, guest services, property standards and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make sure the motel meets workplace, health, safety, hygiene and hospitality requirements
  • Take charge of the full daily operation of the motel, coordinating front office, housekeeping, maintenance and guest service
  • Lead, train, roster and supervise employees, and give them a professional and positive place to work
  • Hold cleanliness, presentation and guest service to a high standard
  • Deal efficiently with guest enquiries, complaints and operational issues
  • Track occupancy, bookings, revenue and overall performance, and keep financial, operational and guest records accurate
  • Support budgeting, financial controls and cost management, and find practical ways to raise profitability and efficiency
  • Arrange property maintenance, repairs and facility improvements
  • Manage dealings with suppliers, contractors and service providers
  • Drive initiatives that grow bookings, guest satisfaction and business visibility
  • Represent the motel professionally to local businesses and tourism organisations, and keep reviewing operations to bring in improvements where required

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You must meet the applicable Australian employment and employer sponsorship requirements
  • You need to be able to provide genuine employment history, qualifications and professional references that can be verified
  • Demonstrated motel, hotel or accommodation management experience
  • A hospitality operations and management background that can be verified
  • Proven record of leading, training and managing a hospitality team
  • Solid understanding of accommodation operations and guest service
  • Hands-on experience with revenue monitoring, budgeting and cost control
  • Strong skills in customer service and conflict resolution
  • Confidence making independent decisions and owning operational matters
  • Experience with hotel management systems and point-of-sale software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, good organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy hospitality environment, and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
  • Relevant hospitality qualifications are advantageous
  • Fluent Mandarin or other additional language skills will be highly regarded
