Maintenance Fitter

Production only runs as well as its machinery. An established FMCG manufacturer in Western Australia needs a qualified Maintenance Fitter who can find problems early, prevent failures and keep equipment working efficiently.

This is a hands-on mechanical role for someone with genuine trade experience who understands why preventative maintenance matters in a fast-moving plant. You will handle planned maintenance, fault-finding, repairs, inspections and improvement work, not just breakdowns. Key Responsibilities

  • Apply workplace health and safety requirements at all times
  • Follow food manufacturing, hygiene and site-specific procedures
  • Do preventative maintenance on production machinery and fixed plant
  • Respond fast to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Diagnose faults, work out the right repair, and carry out mechanical repairs that limit production interruptions
  • Inspect machinery and catch mechanical issues as they develop
  • Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic gear
  • Complete scheduled servicing, inspections and other maintenance activities
  • Assist with changeovers and modifications to production equipment
  • Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades
  • Investigate repeat faults and recommend corrective action, keeping maintenance and service documentation accurate
  • Work closely with production personnel to keep the plant operating reliably
  • Contribute to a proactive, professional maintenance environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Genuine and verifiable trade qualifications and employment experience
  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience as a qualified Maintenance Fitter in FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume production environments
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding ability
  • Experience maintaining automated production equipment and fixed plant
  • Working knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic systems
  • Practical understanding of preventative maintenance strategies, and confidence in both planned and breakdown maintenance
  • Strong focus on machinery reliability, safety and production efficiency
  • Able to work independently and contribute effectively within a maintenance team, with good communication and practical problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work rotating day and afternoon shifts
