Maintenance & Reliability Lead
Trade · Perth WA, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr
An expanding manufacturer in Western Australia is hiring a Maintenance & Reliability Lead. The job is to raise plant reliability and move the site to a structured, proactive maintenance approach.
Be clear on what this involves: there is no fully established maintenance system waiting for you. You will build and improve it, combining hands-on fault-finding with maintenance planning, asset management, contractor coordination and continuous improvement. Expect to work with production teams, equipment manufacturers and technical specialists to improve plant availability, reduce repeat failures and put in place practices that support long-term growth.
Protect yourself: a genuine employer will never ask you to pay for a job offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that licensed and specialist work is handled by suitably qualified personnel
- Apply isolation, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and other safety procedures on every job
- Set and drive the site's overall maintenance and reliability strategy
- Be accountable for plant reliability, equipment availability and maintenance results
- Introduce structured maintenance programmes, both predictive and preventative
- Attend breakdowns and find the cause of technical faults
- Do mechanical and electrical repairs yourself, staying inside your authorised scope and qualifications
- Fix problems with sensors, motors, variable-speed drives, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and automated controls, and trace faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical and instrument systems
- Log recurring failures, investigate root causes and make sure corrective actions stick
- Build maintenance schedules around equipment criticality and production demands
- Keep work orders, equipment histories, asset registers and maintenance records correct and current
- Put CMMS processes in place and improve them, covering MEX and any relevant equipment maintenance system
- Define service intervals, inspection routines and maintenance standards for equipment
- Tighten control of critical spare parts: what is needed, what is on hand and how it is stocked
- Manage the specialist contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and technical service providers the site relies on
- Take part in equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, modifications and handover
- Prepare clear maintenance procedures, checklists, inspection routines and technical records
- Train production operators to care for equipment and report faults early, and push for better safety, uptime, response times and efficiency across the plant
