Experienced Machine Operator needed in Otago, New Zealand. This is a practical production job at a packaging operation that is adding new equipment and more automation.
You must be able to prove genuine experience operating industrial machinery, making adjustments, finding faults and keeping production consistent. Beyond running the machines, you will help improve how they perform, and the role can develop over time into a specialist position covering packaging machinery, automation and production optimisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose breakdowns, stoppages and odd machine behaviour, then sort them out with practical mechanical know-how
- Handle the packaging and production line safely and at a good pace, answering for the condition and output of the machines given to you
- Get machines ready before each run, do product changeovers and tweak settings as needed
- Keep watch over machines, output quality and running conditions, and act fast when performance drops
- Clean, lubricate and do basic upkeep on a regular schedule
- Log production data and finish all required paperwork, sticking to food safety, quality and workplace health and safety rules
- Lend a hand with packaging, kegging, the warehouse and moving finished stock
- Back the setup and commissioning of incoming machinery, including trials and tuning of automated equipment
- Suggest changes that cut downtime and get more out of each machine
- Keep output moving steadily without hold-ups
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proof to back up your machinery and production experience
- At least 2 years of relevant machine operating or manufacturing experience, whether as a Machine Operator, Production Operator or similar
- A track record of running industrial or production machines
- Solid mechanical know-how and troubleshooting ability, including spotting equipment faults and tracing what caused them
- Can set machines up, adjust them accurately and handle basic mechanical maintenance and equipment care
- Takes safety and production quality seriously and pays close attention when checking machines and finished goods
- Hands-on and self-directed, owns how the machines perform, and is keen on automation, modern machinery and production technology
- Packaging, canning, bottling, food or beverage production experience is advantageous
- Willingness to relocate to Otago and build a long-term career in New Zealand
