Industrial Blaster & Painter

A growing industrial coatings operation in Western Australia is hiring an experienced Blaster Painter. You will need to prove real, practical skill in abrasive blasting, preparing surfaces and applying protective coatings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Put safety first, working within site procedures, industry requirements and Australian Standards on every job
  • Blast a variety of industrial products and surfaces using abrasive methods
  • Bring surfaces up to the specified standard before coating, and check them to confirm they can take a coat
  • Lay down epoxy, urethane and other protective coating systems, watching the application so coverage and finish stay even
  • Run blast pots, compressors, spray rigs and other associated tools
  • Get blasting and painting equipment set up properly and use it the correct way
  • Flag any surface, coating or equipment problems and report them through the right channels
  • Look after the blasting and coating equipment: cleaning, upkeep and inspection
  • Hit quality standards and project deadlines, working accurately and consistently from start to finish
  • Cooperate with supervisors and fellow tradespeople
  • Leave the work area clean, organised and safe
  • Take on night or weekend shifts now and then when required, paid at penalty rates

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years' genuine hands-on abrasive blasting, plus a demonstrated record in industrial blasting and protective coatings
  • You can prove quality surface preparation work and have practically applied industrial protective coatings
  • Strong working knowledge of how blasting, preparation and coating processes fit together
  • You must be able to back up your trade experience with proof that can be verified
  • Sharp attention to detail and pride in what you produce
  • Steady commitment to health and safety at work, plus a dependable work ethic and professional conduct
  • Can work alone yet still pull your weight in a team
  • Physically able to cope with a demanding industrial setting
  • Highly regarded: Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application, AMPP/NACE or recognised protective coatings qualifications, a Forklift licence and a White Card
