HVAC Tradesperson / Air Conditioning Technician

This is a safety-critical mechanical role in Smeaton Grange, Sydney, with a specialised operation that maintains fleet vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) in the aviation sector.

Key Responsibilities

Follow established safety procedures whenever you work in controlled environments
Maintain and repair light and heavy vehicles
Maintain and repair specialised GSE
Inspect equipment in detail and find mechanical faults
Diagnose problems that are mechanical, diesel or hydraulic
Perform scheduled services and preventative maintenance
Attend to breakdowns and return equipment to operational condition
Apply practical diagnostic skill to choose efficient repair methods
Handle specialised equipment used in aviation support operations
Record completed maintenance and repairs accurately
Document faults, repairs and service activity in the required systems
Cooperate with other mechanics, supervisors and clients
Uphold professional standards when representing the business
Keep tools, equipment and work areas organised and safety-compliant

Requirements & Eligibility

You need to be able to obtain a Police Clearance
You need to be able to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
You need to pass the required drug and alcohol screening
Readiness to undergo identity, qualification and employment checks, and to hand over supporting qualification and employment documentation
Trade experience you can prove is genuine and verifiable
Current HR Driver Licence
Trade qualification relevant to Light Vehicle or Heavy Diesel Mechanics
Minimum 5 years of relevant practical mechanical experience preferred
A demonstrated record on light vehicles, heavy vehicles or heavy equipment
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability on mechanical work, and a solid grasp of workplace safety and maintenance procedures
Comfortable working alone and contributing positively within a team
Diesel and hydraulic experience is advantageous
Breakdown maintenance experience is advantageous
Welding skills are advantageous
Ground Support Equipment or aviation experience is advantageous
