HR and Recruitment Team Lead

An established industrial organisation in Western Australia needs a seasoned HR & Recruitment Team Lead to support its growth. The brief is simple: put together capable, reliable teams through structured hiring, clear workforce processes and strong people management.
You will head a small HR and Recruitment unit and take charge of how operational teams are matched with suitable talent. That means working out workforce needs, assessing candidate backgrounds, supporting verification and coordinating onboarding, so hiring becomes more transparent and dependable.
Expect to cover workshop, metropolitan and project-based operations, with both local and international recruitment in scope. This role suits someone who believes in honest, properly checked hiring.
Key Responsibilities
- Check each candidate's experience, work history, qualifications and other relevant papers during recruitment
- Set up hiring processes that lead to accurate candidate assessment and outcomes people can trust
- Lead, coach and back the HR and Recruitment team in meeting workforce objectives
- Run hiring from start to finish for blue-collar and white-collar roles, and manage relationships with labour hire providers and external recruitment suppliers
- Support the hiring and processing of international and employer-sponsored candidates, coordinating sponsorship requirements, compliance documents and communication with relevant migration providers
- Get onboarding and mobilisation done for workshop, metropolitan and project-based employees
- Partner with operational leaders on present and future workforce needs and grow talent pipelines for upcoming projects and expansion
- Guide employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, investigations and grievances, applying relevant Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and internal policies
- Keep an eye on workforce data, HR metrics and recruitment results
- Arrange employee reviews, training initiatives and skills matrix requirements
- Improve recruitment systems, HR processes and operational efficiency wherever there is room to do so
Requirements & Eligibility
- Eligible for employer sponsorship where required
- Minimum 5 years leading HR and recruitment at a senior level
- Proven record running end-to-end hiring for high-volume blue-collar workforces, covering candidate assessment, employment documentation and recruitment compliance
- Knowledge of employer-sponsored visas and international hiring is highly desirable
- Solid grasp of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Workforce planning, employee relations and performance management experience
- A background in construction, mining, fabrication, resources or heavy industrial settings is highly regarded
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and build up a team, backed by excellent communication and stakeholder management
- A proactive, practical, solution-driven attitude
- Able to handle competing priorities when operations move fast
- Strong organisational and admin skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and hands-on use of HRIS and recruitment systems
