Heavy Vehicle Technician

Position: experienced Diesel Mechanic. Employer: a leading truck dealership network in New Zealand.

The work covers servicing, repairing and diagnosing heavy vehicles alongside a professional team. You will be based in a modern workshop that is well equipped, with access to advanced technology, ongoing training and solid career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record every job accurately in service records and workshop documentation
  • Carry out general servicing on heavy trucks and commercial vehicles
  • Complete mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on the same fleet
  • Run advanced diagnostics and fault finding with modern tools and technology
  • Repair mechanical and electrical faults in line with manufacturer and industry standards
  • Inspect and test vehicles to identify issues quickly and correctly
  • Deliver quality workmanship and make sure all repairs are done safely
  • Work closely with other technicians, service advisors and the parts team
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, supportive way
  • Comply with workplace health and safety procedures without exception
  • Keep your knowledge of changing vehicle technology current through ongoing training
  • Contribute to an efficient workshop and to meeting service targets

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Candidates in New Zealand or overseas who have suitable experience are encouraged to apply
  • Relevant automotive qualification; a qualified Diesel Mechanic is preferred
  • Track record in truck or heavy vehicle mechanical repairs
  • Background with franchise truck dealerships: advantageous, but not essential
  • Sound grasp of mechanical and electrical systems and ability to diagnose and fix complex vehicle faults
  • Committed to accuracy, efficiency and quality workmanship, with a genuine passion for the truck and heavy vehicle industry
  • Able to work alone or within a professional team
  • Truck licence or forklift licence: desirable
