If heavy transport fleets are your trade, read on. An established operation that is still expanding needs a qualified Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic with pride in reliable equipment, sharp fault diagnosis and solid mechanical workmanship.
The fleet is modern heavy road transport equipment, and the work is done in a purpose-built workshop. What you do will directly affect fleet reliability, downtime and whether vehicles stay safe and operational.
Overseas-qualified mechanics can apply, and eligible overseas candidates can be sponsored. Deal only with genuine employers: none will ask you to pay for a job offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend breakdowns, troubleshoot, track down mechanical faults and decide on repair fixes that work
- Handle preventative and scheduled servicing on heavy road transport vehicles and hold the fleet to high safety and operating standards
- Service and fix heavy multi-combination trucks and prime movers, Volvo and Mack Titan units included
- Take on engine, transmission, driveline and major component repairs, as well as rebuilding and replacing components
- Check vehicles over and flag possible equipment problems early
- Keep maintenance paperwork and service records complete
- Use workshop tools and diagnostic gear the right way and safely, and keep housekeeping and workshop safety standards high
- Get jobs done fast to cut downtime, and work with the workshop and transport teams on keeping trucks available
- Stick to every health, safety and environmental procedure in the workplace
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current C Class Australian driver's licence: essential
- Recognised trade qualification as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, and proven time on the job as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic
- Solid background maintaining road transport and heavy vehicles, including demonstrated work on heavy multi-combination trucks
- Volvo and/or Mack Titan prime mover experience: highly regarded
- HR licence: highly regarded
- Strong at mechanical fault-finding and diagnostics, and experienced in major mechanical repairs and rebuilding components
- Has worked with preventative maintenance programs and approaches maintenance and repair work reliably
- Current National Police Clearance, or willing to obtain one
- Can work a structured local roster
- Safety-aware, detail-focused, a good communicator and team player
- Willing to relocate to Western Australia if required
- Relevant overseas-qualified applicants are encouraged; eligible overseas candidates can get sponsorship, and 482 visa holders may be considered for sponsorship transfer
