Key Responsibilities
- Manage ingredient ordering, deliveries, storage and stock rotation
- Monitor food usage, portion sizes, costs and wastage
- Run daily kitchen operations and service preparation
- Prepare authentic Singaporean and Malaysian dishes to a consistent commercial standard
- Show strong hands-on skill in wok cooking, noodles, rice dishes, curries and sauces
- Hold flavour, presentation and portion control steady from plate to plate
- Set preparation schedules based on expected service requirements and contribute practical ideas for the menu and new dishes
- Check ingredient quality and enforce correct preparation methods
- Lead and coordinate kitchen staff and train them in preparation, cooking and kitchen procedures
- Keep communication effective across kitchen and service staff
- Monitor food safety, hygiene, temperature control and allergen requirements
- Ensure takeaway orders are accurate and ready within required timeframes
- Maintain kitchen equipment, enforce safe operating procedures and act on any operational or equipment issues
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- Must satisfy applicable requirements for employer sponsorship and visa eligibility
- Demonstrated professional experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior chef
- Strong practical background in Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine
- Proven hands-on ability with wok cooking, noodles, rice dishes, curries and sauces
- Experience in a busy commercial kitchen such as a takeaway, restaurant or quick-service outlet
- Demonstrated ability to hold food quality steady during busy service
- Previous experience leading, supervising or training kitchen staff, and strong practical kitchen management and organisational skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards for commercial kitchens
- Experience in stock management, food costing and wastage control
- Effective communication with kitchen and service teams
- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications are desirable
- Genuine evidence of your professional experience and qualifications, and availability for full-time work, including weekends and public holidays as required
