Head Chef

A respected care community in Victoria, Australia wants an experienced Head Chef to run its kitchen. The position is permanent and full-time.

You will have creative freedom to develop seasonal menus, and you will lead and support a dedicated kitchen team. Key Responsibilities

  • Keep food safety and kitchen hygiene to an excellent standard
  • Check that every kitchen practice meets relevant compliance requirements
  • Lead the kitchen team with confidence, positivity and professionalism, and train, guide and support each member
  • Keep the kitchen a positive, safe and collaborative place to work
  • Prepare delicious meals that are nutritious and well balanced
  • Build menus from seasonal ingredients and residents' preferences
  • Cater for individual dietary and nutritional requirements
  • Present meals to a high standard, consistently
  • Give residents dining experiences they enjoy
  • Place food orders and manage supplier requirements
  • Track stock levels, cut unnecessary waste and manage kitchen spending and budgets

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Holder of a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • A recognised Commercial Cookery qualification
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is preferred
  • Background as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary leadership role
  • Solid knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Proven experience creating menus and managing dietary requirements
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication and planning skills
  • Experience controlling kitchen costs and stock
  • A passion for exceptional food and service, plus a caring and respectful approach to residents
  • Ability to complete a medical assessment and background checks, and to meet Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check requirements
