A French-inspired restaurant in Western Australia needs an experienced Head Waiter/Waitress. Food, wine and the guest experience carry equal weight in this venue, so the person in this role must represent it with confidence.
This is not just another service position. You will be a key part of front-of-house, helping create a setting where guests feel welcome and properly cared for.
Expect to show proof of your hospitality background, service capability and professional standards. A reliable, demonstrable track record in restaurant service is what the employer wants to see.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow responsible service of alcohol procedures and venue policies
- Own the delivery of consistently high front-of-house service
- Greet guests and set a warm, professional first impression
- Run table service efficiently from the moment guests arrive until they leave
- Use solid product knowledge to talk guests through food, wine, coffee and beverage choices
- Recommend suitable food and wine to guests
- Provide professional wine service while holding service standards
- Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff and keep service smooth in high-volume periods
- Check guest satisfaction and act quickly on individual needs
- Deal with service complaints professionally and protect a positive guest experience
- Mentor and back up other service staff
- Keep cleanliness, presentation and organisation at a high standard
- Help with daily opening and closing
- Put forward ideas and effort to improve the guest experience, and represent the business with reliability, professionalism and integrity
Requirements & Eligibility
- Valid RSA or Manager's Liquor Licence
- Minimum 3 years of restaurant experience that is relevant to the role
- Preferred: a proven background in professional or fine dining service
- Highly regarded: previous senior waiter, head waiter or comparable experience
- Strong hands-on knowledge of restaurant operations and table service, plus confident knowledge of wine and professional wine service
- A genuine interest in food, wine and coffee
- Fluent English and strong verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities, keeping service standards consistent on busy shifts
- Strong teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills, professional presentation, a positive attitude, reliability and close attention to detail
- Willingness to work weekends and hospitality trading hours
- Evidence of your relevant employment history and experience is needed; candidates meeting the required criteria may be considered for sponsorship
