Gardener needed in Christchurch, Canterbury. This is a hands-on role for someone who can prove genuine experience keeping outdoor spaces at a professional standard.

Simply finishing garden jobs is not enough. You will be judged on practical knowledge, how responsibly you handle equipment, how consistent your work is and whether you keep the grounds attractive, safe and in good order.

Key Responsibilities

Operate ride-on lawn mowers, line trimmers and other gardening machinery
Use safe work practices whenever tools, machines or garden equipment are in use
Mow, trim and prune regularly and handle general upkeep of the grounds
Look after lawns, gardens, pathways and shared outdoor areas, keeping them to the expected presentation standards
Plant and fertilise as the work requires
Inspect outdoor spaces to find routine maintenance needs
Keep equipment and work areas properly looked after and in order
Coordinate with internal teams and outside contractors when needed
Complete every gardening and grounds task you are assigned, reliably

Requirements & Eligibility

Must meet applicable New Zealand employment and sponsorship requirements
Proven practical gardening or grounds maintenance experience
Demonstrated ability to complete routine gardening tasks without supervision
Experience with ride-on lawn mowers and line trimmers
Sound understanding of basic lawn, plant and garden care
Ability to use machinery and gardening tools safely
Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent quality
Reliable, responsible and professional at work, with good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team
Availability for casual weekday shifts
Willingness to undergo the required police vetting and other employment checks
