A growing flooring installation business in Queensland needs two experienced Floor Layers. The work is steady and covers residential, commercial, retail and new-build projects, with carpet and vinyl installations on the schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Work cooperatively with customers, builders and other trades on site
Assess each work area, measure accurately, read plans and determine the flooring materials required
Strip existing floor coverings and prepare subfloors the right way
Install broadloom carpet (underlay, gripper, seaming and stretching) and carpet tiles across residential and commercial sites
Lay luxury vinyl plank flooring
Cut, fit and finish materials precisely, including trims, thresholds and edge finishes
Carry out repair and rectification work where required
Hold a high standard of workmanship from start to finish on every installation
Keep vehicles, tools and work areas safe and organised, following Australian workplace safety and flooring installation requirements

Requirements & Eligibility

Current driver's licence, held before your start date
Current construction White Card, held before your start date
Minimum 3 years' experience in the trade as a Floor Layer
Demonstrated, practical experience with broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank
Strong grasp of subfloor preparation
Accurate measuring and the ability to work from plans
Proven ability to deliver flooring installations at a professional standard
Good communication and customer-facing skills, plus the ability to work independently or within an installation team
Reliable and physically capable of the demands of flooring work
Highly regarded: commercial sheet vinyl experience including welding, coving and wall vinyl; advanced floor preparation experience; floating floor or engineered timber installation experience
Suitably skilled overseas applicants may be eligible for visa sponsorship if their relevant experience is verifiable
