The work happens on commercial sites: generator testing, electrical upgrades, fault diagnosis and control systems, with engineering support available and room to grow your technical skills. Your practical background must be genuine and demonstrable, because that is what the role is built on.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults in generator controllers, PLCs and control circuits, and test and troubleshoot Automatic Transfer Switches and associated switchgear
- Service and maintain electrical components of standby generators, and carry out the electrical side of generator upgrades and modifications
- Run generator and emergency power tests during building shutdowns, including AFSS-related testing
- Read and work from electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
- Wire and test control systems
- Assist with generator commissioning and system upgrades
- Investigate technical problems and implement practical solutions
- Work independently while keeping the wider team informed
- Work with engineering personnel on specialist generator projects and help with telemetry and control-system applications
- Attend scheduled night and weekend works, with additional shutdown and overtime opportunities available
Requirements & Eligibility
- Must be based in Sydney or willing to relocate
- Current NSW Electrical Licence is essential
- Full NSW Driver Licence required, plus the ability to drive a manual vehicle
- Proven practical electrical trade experience backed by verifiable employment history that shows genuine electrical skills
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
- A strong hands-on approach, confident with electrical and trade tools
- Ability to diagnose problems and reach practical solutions
- Comfortable working independently when required and contributing within a small team
- Generator controller experience with Deep Sea, Cummins, CAT or Woodward is advantageous
- Interest in PLCs, control wiring, telemetry and standby power systems, and availability for occasional night and weekend work
