Electrical Linesman and crane/borer oprator

Roles are open in New South Wales for Distribution Linesmen, Transmission Linesmen, Transmission TAs and Crane Borer Operators.

These positions are for powerline professionals with real, verifiable experience: work you can clearly prove in overhead distribution, transmission, pole construction, stringing, structural work or plant operation. Experienced overseas candidates are supported, and additional training may be provided where required to bring existing qualifications in line with Australian standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow workplace safety and quality procedures, identify hazards and resolve problems on the job
  • Overhead distribution construction: dressing, standing and replacing power poles, and installing and maintaining overhead infrastructure
  • Stringing of mains and conductors, plus conductor stringing on transmission lines
  • Transmission line construction, including dressing and erecting transmission poles and H structures
  • Assist with constructing and erecting towers, and climb transmission structures
  • Work from network drawings and line diagrams
  • Carry out inspections of transmission assets
  • Perform ancillary and supporting linework
  • Operate crane/boring plant when authorised
  • Work productively alongside crews and site teams
  • Travel between project locations and take on occasional assignments away from home
  • Work overtime when required

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Construction White Card
  • Driver’s licence
  • Proven practical experience in overhead electrical work, plus relevant distribution or transmission linework experience
  • Able to prove your technical skills and previous work experience
  • Solid problem-solving skills, a reliable team approach and the ability to work safely when conditions change
  • Prepared to travel for projects and do short-term away work
  • Certificate III ESI in Transmission and Distribution Overhead – preferred
  • Work at Heights – preferred; CPR – preferred
  • Dogging – preferred; Rigging – preferred
  • High Risk Work Licence – preferred
  • Relevant qualifications gained overseas are considered
  • Able to complete further Australian-recognised training where required
  • Sponsorship on offer for suitable applicants
