Electrical Estimator & Industrial Electrician

Experienced Electrical Estimators and Industrial Electricians, take note: an established electrical engineering and contracting business is expanding its Victoria team and is accepting applications now.
The work spans technically diverse jobs in commercial, industrial and infrastructure environments, so it suits people who are serious about moving their careers forward. Estimators will price and plan projects, while electricians will build, test, commission and maintain industrial electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Wire, assemble and install switchboards and electrical control panels (Electrician)
- Carry out industrial electrical installation work, whether in the workshop or out on site (Electrician)
- Check and test installations and equipment ahead of commissioning, and run commissioning and start-up tasks where these are needed (Electrician)
- Track down electrical faults and fix them properly (Electrician)
- Complete preventative maintenance according to schedule (Electrician)
- Work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings (Electrician)
- Install and handle industrial control and electrical systems, including PLC, MCC and automation-related electrical tasks where applicable (Electrician)
- Deliver work that complies with Australian Standards and the project's specifications (Electrician)
- Stick to all health, safety and environmental rules on the job (Electrician)
- Cooperate with engineers, supervisors and other trades to get projects done efficiently (Electrician)
- Prepare detailed estimates and tender pricing for electrical projects (Estimator)
- Go through drawings, specifications, scopes of work and technical paperwork (Estimator)
- Work out material, labour and subcontractor costs, and obtain and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors (Estimator)
- Flag potential risks and exclusions on a project, along with opportunities to cut cost (Estimator)
- Support budgeting, cost planning and value engineering (Estimator)
- Deal with engineers, project managers, suppliers and clients at every stage of estimating (Estimator)
- Produce tender submissions that are accurate and priced to compete commercially (Estimator)
- Help the delivery team through project handover (Estimator)
- Keep correct records of prices, estimates and tender details (Estimator)
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holds a recognised electrical trade qualification (Electrician)
- Eligibility to obtain the appropriate Australian licence, or a current Australian Electrical Licence (Electrician)
- Current driver's licence (Electrician)
- Industrial electrical experience you can demonstrate, including practical work on switchboards, control panels and electrical installations (Electrician)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability (Electrician)
- Can read electrical schematics and technical drawings with confidence (Electrician)
- Exposure to PLCs, MCCs, automation or industrial control systems is advantageous, and commissioning experience is highly regarded (Electrician)
- Works well alone and as part of a team (Electrician)
- Committed to quality, safety and professional standards (Electrician)
- Demonstrated experience in electrical estimating or in electrical project work (Estimator)
- Solid grasp of industry practices, electrical systems and installations (Estimator)
- Able to read and make sense of electrical drawings and specifications (Estimator)
- Has prepared project estimates and tender submissions before, and understands material, labour and subcontractor costing (Estimator)
- Electrical trade experience or an electrical qualification is advantageous (Estimator)
- Experience with project management and estimating software is highly regarded (Estimator)
- Good with numbers and strong on detail, with sound commercial awareness and problem-solving skills (Estimator)
- Communicates effectively with clients, suppliers and project teams (Estimator)
