Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker needed for a specialist equipment services business in Rutherford, in the Hunter region. The employer wants proven hands-on knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and equipment maintenance.

This role is for a tradesperson whose experience is backed by qualifications and a verifiable employment history. Expect to work on crushing, processing, quarry and mining machinery, covering upkeep, fault diagnosis, repairs and field servicing.

The work is split between the workshop and customer sites in metropolitan, regional and remote areas. Keep your trade papers and references genuine and ready, and never pay anyone to secure a job for you.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose hydraulic faults with the help of schematics, manuals and technical information
Run pressure and flow tests on hydraulic systems
Troubleshoot 12V and 24V electrical control systems
Read electrical schematics and carry out voltage and continuity checks
Keep both mobile and fixed crushing and processing machinery serviced and maintained
Pinpoint faults in equipment and decide what repairs are required
Handle mechanical repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance
Inspect machinery and complete pre-delivery preparation
Work to OEM specifications and approved maintenance procedures
Visit customers in metropolitan, regional and remote locations to service equipment and give technical support, travelling to regional sites when required
Note the condition of each machine and recommend remedial work
Prepare technical reports on servicing and equipment condition
Log inspections, repairs, settings and tests accurately, and take photos as proof of completed maintenance and repair work
Speak directly with customers about equipment problems and work done
Keep work practices safe in the workshop and in the field

Requirements & Eligibility

At least 2 years of post-training industry experience
Relevant trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking or another comparable mechanical trade
Full unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
HR Licence is desirable
Forklift Licence is desirable
Proven work on quarry or mining fixed plant
Relevant hands-on experience with crushing and processing machinery
Demonstrable track record in mechanical maintenance and repair
Practical hydraulic systems knowledge and fault diagnosis skills
Ability to read and make sense of hydraulic and electrical schematics
Ability to perform basic electrical testing on 12V and 24V systems
Ability to prove and verify your past trade employment and experience
Physical capability for manual and field-based work
Willingness to work in metropolitan, regional and remote locations
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical
Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol screening
Strong mechanical problem-solving, with a self-motivated and proactive approach
Good communication and customer service skills, and the ability to deal professionally with customers and site teams
