Key Responsibilities
- Follow food safety, hygiene and infection control procedures
- Observe kitchen safety procedures
- Prepare and cook meals to approved recipes and menu requirements
- Make meals that meet each patient's individual dietary and nutritional requirements
- Coordinate preparation across breakfast, lunch and dinner services
- Hold food quality, presentation and consistency to a high standard
- Apply correct portion control
- Finish meal preparation within the required production and service timeframes
- Monitor food storage and rotate stock correctly
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and hygienic
- Work closely with the catering team so meal service runs smoothly
- Adapt to changing operational requirements while keeping service standards
- Support a positive patient experience by preparing quality food reliably
Requirements & Eligibility
- Ability to satisfy applicable employment, work-rights, reference, criminal history and health-related pre-employment requirements
- Demonstrated professional Cook experience in a commercial kitchen, healthcare, aged care, hospitality or catering setting
- Relevant food handling or food safety qualifications, with a sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling requirements
- Practical knowledge of commercial food preparation and cooking procedures, and the discipline to follow recipes, menus, dietary instructions and workplace procedures every time
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen and meet strict service deadlines
- Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays
- A professional approach focused on quality and attention to detail, with a genuine interest in contributing to patient wellbeing through quality meals
